TV Ratings

I don't find the ratings useful. I rarely notice them and could care less what they said. If I see something on the show that I don't like I will change the channel. I'm sure that parents find the ratings useful but I think that people could do without them. Parents should know what their kids are watching, we don't need ratings to hurt films and TV shows.

Your Vote

I was not old enough to vote last election. I didn't think too much about who I would have voted for. I don't think I will put too much effort in choosing a candidate this election. I will probably end up voting republican without thinking too much about it. I don't feel that a president makes much difference themselves, they are just the face of our country, a puppet. If I actually believed that a president could change the country for the better I would choose to vote seriously. Until then I don't plan on thinking too much about politics and the election.

Character

Character and image are two very important things in today's society. I don't think that Abe Lincoln would get elected today because of his image. I think that we suffer because people care about our president's image so much. If the majority of people weighed presidential candidates character and values more heavily than image I think we would be better off. Candidates can use their image to win an election even if the other candidate would have been better for the position. It is hard to distinguish who is telling the truth and who is lying these days. It doesn't seem to be very hard to warp your values when running for office.

Downloading Music

I support the musicians I listen to by buying their CDs. I think that the current state of copyright infringement is awful. The RIAA are mindlessly suing people for ridiculous amounts of money. The majority of the artists that are getting their music stolen don't deserve the money either. A lot of the musicians I listen to allow their music to be downloaded for free, because they care for their fans and the music itself, not the money. I honestly think current mainstream music needs to be priced based on quality. If I were a musician that was getting my music downloaded illegally I wouldn't go out and ruin people's lives by suing them, I would try to find a better way to distribute my music.

Me and Music

I listen to a lot of different types of music. The type of music i listen to usually depends on how I'm feeling. The musical styles that i listen to are; Alternative Rock, Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Electronic. I listen to a lot of different types of music but i listed what i most frequently listen to. Most of the Indie Rock/Pop bands i listen to were influenced by alternative rockers like Nirvana, the Pixies and the Cure.

I still enjoy listening to older alternative rock but i spend most of my time listening to current indie rock bands. Some of my favorites are Stars, The Postal Service, Tokyo Police Club and Vampire Weekend. I have not been to any live shows but i hope that will change in the future.

My mom has no problem with what i listen to. The music i listen to doesn't influence any bad behavior so i suppose that could be why she doesn't have a problem with it. When i was younger i would listen to rap just for another reason to rebel against my parents. Thinking back it was pretty stupid.

My music tastes are a lot different than my father's. He listens to country and i don't ever see myself enjoying listening to that. I think that he is drawn to it more because he lives in the south. I don't know anyone else that likes country in Minnesota.

I think that some kids when they're younger tend to listen to music that make their parents angry just for their amusement. As i matured i strayed away from that kind of mentality and began listening to music that i enjoyed and could relate to. I think that is why my father listens to country. I'm sure that is the case for many others as well.
